What to look for

Selecting appropriate clothing for your portrait session is critical part in the success. The right choice will depend on the style of the session, personal taste etc and we will talk about this in length during your in person consultation. The clothes you wear every day and they look great on you, not always the best possible choices for a portrait session. These are the guidelines just to get your creativity flowing and help picking out outfits in case you decide to buy new clothes.

Form fitting clothes work for all body tpyes, yes, even for curvy girls! It will work together with posing to accentuate your best assets. This doesn't mean your clothes have to be form fitting all the way, but they can't be baggy all over

Plunging necklines elongate your body. Think v-neck or wear longer necklaces to guide the eyes up and down, not side to side

Darker colors slenderize the subject.

Ruching or gathering is very flattering as it gives your waist definition

Choose clothes with details where you want to accentuate your feature (and plain where you don't want to guide attention)

Accessories are a fun way to show your personal style, guide the eye and give a pop of color

What to avoid

Anything that makes the eyes of the viewer go from left to right. Such as horizontal stripes, poofy shoulders, details from left to right etc

Clothes that are too loose or too tight

Busy patterns

Logos (unless it's for your personal branding session)

Undergarments matter

Shapewear is a great idea as it gives a smooth outline for your body and also hides the underwear lines

Pick the right undergarments for every outfit (black for dark outfits, nude for light colors)
